Extras (the Upscaling function)

Learn the Extras tab and how to upscale images

The upscale function is useful for improving the quality and size of images. The default image size of a Stable Diffusion generated image is 512 x 512 pixels. This is a pretty low resolution when you compare it to an average iPhone that can take 12 megapixels (4,032 x 3,024 pixels). It is therefore optimal to upscale a Stable Diffusion image as an unscaled image when enlarged on a typical screen, would look like it has a low quality resolution.

The Stablematic Automatic1111 interface provides a good 'AI Upscaler' for images. This is better than traditional image upscalers which might distort or corrupt the image's details. Consider the detail quality below. With an AI Upscaler such as the one for Stable Diffusion, the upscaler can not only upscale the image but also recover details in the image.
